Privacy Policy

AI Bytes is a daily AI news app for Indian professionals. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights as a user. We have written this in plain language — no legal jargon.
1. What we collect
AI Bytes collects only the minimum data needed to function.
Role selection
When you choose your professional role (Developer, Product Manager, Marketer, or Physical Design (VLSI) Engineer), this preference is stored locally on your device using your browser's localStorage. It is not sent to our servers and is not linked to any personal identity.
Push notification token
If you choose to enable push notifications, your device generates a unique notification token. This token is stored on our servers via OneSignal (our push notification provider) solely to deliver your daily AI Bytes notification. It is not used for advertising or shared with third parties for marketing purposes.
Usage analytics
We use PostHog to collect anonymous usage data to understand how the app is used and improve it. This includes:
- Which stories you view and scroll through
- Whether you expand the ”What this means for you” section
- Whether you tap the Read or Share buttons
- Which role you have selected at the time of each action
- Your approximate session duration
This data is not linked to your name, email, or any personal identifier.
2. What we do NOT collect
We do not collect:
- Your name, email address, or phone number
- Your location
- Your contacts or camera
- Payment information
- Any data from other apps on your device
There is no account creation or login required to use AI Bytes.
3. How we use your data
The data we collect is used only for:
- Delivering your daily AI news feed personalised to your role
- Sending you a daily push notification when your feed is ready (only if you opted in)
- Understanding which features are useful so we can improve the app
- Diagnosing technical issues
We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.

5. Data retention
Push notification tokens are retained for as long as you have notifications enabled. If you disable notifications or uninstall the app, the token becomes inactive and is eventually purged. Anonymous analytics events are retained for up to 12 months. Role preferences stored in localStorage are deleted when you clear your browser data or uninstall the app.
6. Children's privacy
AI Bytes is designed for working professionals and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
7. Your rights
You have the right to:
- Opt out of push notifications at any time via your device settings
- Clear your locally stored role preference by clearing your browser/app data
- Request deletion of any data associated with your push token by contacting us
8. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the effective date at the top. Continued use of AI Bytes after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
